Frequently Asked Questions

BEFORE THE SESSION

Will I be able to see the drawing/mock-up?

No. The consultation/s should provide enough clarity that any adjustments to the final piece can be done collaboratively in person. When you are in search of artists, choose one whose style is consistent to your ideas; this will minimize the margin of error and strengthen the trust that is shared between artist and receiver.

How do I reschedule?

Reschedule requests are accepted no later than 1 week prior to the set appointment. A request submitted sooner than 1 week will forfeit the session's deposit and you will be required to submit a new deposit.

Please email kehwhotattoo@gmail.com with a title " RESCHEDULE REQUEST " providing information on the following:

  • name

  • current appointment date

  • proposed dates and/or preferred days and times

Do I need to shave before the session?

That is completely up to you. If the placement for the tattoo requires shaving and you do not feel comfortable with your artist shaving this area, please feel free to do it yourself on the morning of the session. Be careful and mindful not to irritate or nick the area, as this could affect the tattoo.

Can I get in the sun before my appointment?

We do not recommend this. If you are visiting the island and setting up your appointment towards the end of your trip, please be mindful of the level of sun-exposure that the expected tattoo placement is receiving. A steady application of sun-screen will help for this if you intend to participate in outdoor activities. When you can, wear garments that will cover the area.

The skin does not have to be burnt or red for the sun to have impacted the area enough to affect your intended tattoo. Sun exposure affects how the skin will receive ink, as well as how it will heal. For small or dainty tattoos, this will affect the overall integrity of the piece. In severe cases, your artist may deny the session

Can I use numbing cream?

Numbing cream tends to harden the skin which may also affect the details of the tattoo as well as heal it differently. Alternatively, we offer a numbing spray that functions once the skin has been opened. For smaller and medium tattoos, this method is favored.
